I see him in me
a little more every day.
Like father, like son.

He’ll be in my dreams,
never speaking, but I know
Dad’s still there for me.

God bless those of us
living blue in a red state.
Show thy neighbor love.

Spring
February 27, 2010

The first green of spring
makes itself known as I brace
for months of mowing.

Cigarette
February 15, 2010

Early morning smoke
prepares me for the world that
wants a piece of me.

Hagku
February 10, 2010

Instead, prefers to be called
“Princess Among Queens.”

ZAP!
February 4, 2010

ZAP! (A lunchtime haiku)

Microwaveable
frozen dinners warm the souls
of office dwellers.

The Runner
December 15, 2008

So, a dear, dear friend of mine recently experienced a sports related injury.  I’m ashamed to say that I may have been less than supportive, as a friend should be.   He is a lover of poetry, so I offer up this haiku to cheer him during the recovery period.  Here’s hoping that he’ll be back to normal soon.

THE RUNNER

Athletic and strong,
focused and pure, except for
your bloody nipples.
