Home Sweet Home
April 18, 2009

So, it’s been a while since I blogged…  I’d like to say that I’ve been busy, but hell, who isn’t  I will say that this will probably be my last post from my current location.

You see, the hubby and I have been wanting to buy a house for quite sometime.   We’ve been going to open houses.  Watching HGTV and DIY networks on TV.  Heck, we have even been pawing the real estate magazines with the same fervor that we used to the magazines with nekkid men in them.  However the time was night right…

But times do change.  We had been working on eliminating our debt and improving our credit score, but did not think we were ready.   Then about a month ago, we attended an open house in our neighborhood.  The listing agent gave us the card of a loan officer at one of the local banks.  She told us that she worked with people who were rebuilding their credit.  Plus with the first time homebuyers tax credit, now was the time to buy.

The next day, I did not go to work due to a stomach bug, so I called the loan officer.   She asked me a few questions, put the information into  her computer and told me that she’d give me a call back with how much they could approve me for.  WHAT?  Isn’t this where you’re supposed to say, “Well Mr. Johnson, I’m sorry we can’t do anything for you?”  She called back back and told me that they could approve the home loan and for WAYYYY more than we even though about.

So since we were pre-qualified for a home loan, we set out to find a house.  Not just a house, the house.  We must have looked at dozens of houses.  We finally narrowed it down to two and just couldn’t decided.  So, we looked at them both, one last time with my parents, who due to my sister, had my nephew in tow.   Looking at houses with a baby, not so much fun, in case you were wondering.

Once we decided on the house, we made an offer; they counter offered; we made another offer; they accepted that offer.   Then we had to go through inspection and appraisal.  Then an amended offer based on the inspection.  Now, in just five days, we will go through closing and take possession of the house.

All in all, it seems like we have found a wonderful house to make our home.

Here’s hoping that I won’t have to move again for at least 30 years!!
